As a Lakers fan, I was happy to hear that things are not working for ex-Lakers player Lamar Odom, who was shipped to the Dallas Mavericks last year. Dallas went on to part ways with him after he did not perform as well as expected.

Interestingly, on many blogs people blamed his TV romance with one of the Kardashian sisters Khloe. It didn’t help that her sister Kim had also married an NBA star and broke up after just 72 days.

Everyone seemed to believe that anything (or anyone) the sisters touched would turn into the biblical pillar of salt. What’s with basketball guys and high-profile women any-way? Their much-publicised lives usually seem to end in disaster.

Flouting the trend is the seemingly flawless relationship between TV and radio personality La La Vazquez and her husband, New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony.

They have been together since 2004 and they married in 2010 where the idea of a reality TV show was hatched. After the success of La La’s Full Court Wedding, the couple decided to take it a notch higher, and take us into their lives after the happy event.

From a distance they are an adorable couple, but when you see them engage with each other, they are even more admirable. Theirs is not a tabloid relationship, done for the ratings or to stay relevant.

The two have worked hard in their individual careers which we get to witness through fly-on-the-wall access to their lives.

With the Knicks out of the NBA play-offs, which are currently under way, Anthony has time to spend with his wife and son. If you can stomach fame-hungry individuals like the Kardashian clan, surely you can spare some time for hard-working and high-profile people like this couple. She continues to pursue her interests in broadcasting and film.

So far she has been on successful projects such as Two Can Play That Game, You Got Served and Monster Island. Her friends include Kelly Rowland, Ciara and Serena Williams.

He just plays ball and he is quite good at it. He rubs shoulders with the likes of the team’s new phenom-enon, Jeremy Lin, and basketball fans will hope they get to see the two stars hanging out in this reality series.

Despite the merits of this couple, the reality show business is a tough one. Often a good idea falls apart because people can’t tell where to draw the line between acting and just being yourself.

The bottom line is entertain-ment: if enough people love you, you stay on air. Let’s see if LaLa and Anthony have what it takes.
