Rapper, A-Reece, famously said he’d rather catch the flu than catch feelings. But he must not have been talking about the dark romantic comedy that premiered in South Africa this year.

Written, directed and produced by veteran comedian and actor, Kagiso Lediga, Catching Feelings is proudly local story. It is also officially available on Netflix. As of May 18, the streaming service gives you chance to catch up on the film.

It centres on academic and author, Max (played by Lediga) and his wife, Sam (played by Pearl Thusi), who is a journalist. The couple is living on the brink of being broke because they go out a lot and drink way too much. Max also has trust issues and these are heightened when revered author, Heiner (played by Andrew Buckland) has to suddenly move in with the pair.

Can the couple survive? You’ll have to watch the film to find out.
