Iconic 80s soapie Dallas is back, and so is one of it’s biggest stars, Linda Gray. The 70-year-old actress seemed to turn back the clock at the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show in New York yesterday, looking radiant and virtually wrinkle-free in a dress which exposed her shoulders.
Gray, who is due to film the pilot for a new series of Dallas, will reprise her role as Sue Ellen Ewing. On the evidence of her appearance yesterday, the actress looks like she’s barely aged a day. The same couldn’t be said for fellow 80s TV icon Suzanne Somers. The actress, who played the ditzy blonde bombshell in the comedy series Three’s Company, looked like a scary Botox nightmare.
In the Dallas remake, Gray will line up alongside her former co-stars Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy.
According to the Daily Mail, Hagman (79) is set to reprise his role as the dastardly oil baron JR Ewing - the grand-daddy of soap villains. Gray plays his wife, and Duffy stars as his younger brother, Bobby.
While the stars of the original show are back, the plot will this time focus on the younger generation, with JR’s son John Ross taking the lead. A few big names are being courted in a bid to inject new blood into the show, with 24 star Keifer Sutherland, Ghost Whisperer’s Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Lost star Josh Holloway reportedly waiting in the wings.
The original Dallas ran from 1978 to 1991 and was a huge hit around the world. The show's “Who Shot JR?” cliffhanger in 1980 remains one of the most watched programmes in TV history.
