Loyal GlowTV viewers are outraged concerning a statement made last week by DStv regarding the intended closure of GlowTV on its platform at the end of March.

The Nismedia Group, headed by Nazeer Noormohamed, acquired the sole rights to GlowTV in July 2016 and has since been broadcasting on the DStv, OpenView HD and StarSat platforms.

“I have always seen great potential in GlowTV and the need for eastern-inspired content in Southern Africa.  Our entry from print into the television sector, gave Nismedia a new and exciting national and international footprint,”  said Noormohamed.

DStv has claimed that they will not be renewing the contract with GlowTV at the end of March 2018.

Following this, GlowTV launched an urgent application against DStv in the Johannesburg High Court.  The court outcome outlined that the dispute needs to be referred for arbitration, as per the terms of the GlowTV / DStv contract. While DStv attempted to obtain an order that the arbitration should be finalised by end March, this was not the order of the court.

“Until the final outcome of the legal process is pronounced, we have been advised by our attorneys that DStv is compelled to keep GlowTV on their platform,” said Noormohamed.

GlowTV is a preferred entertainment channel of premium eastern-inspired content for its fast growing legion of viewers. The channel showcases content that has been sourced from around the world, including India, the UK, the US and Brazil.  GlowTV has taken the best on offer and tailored it to appeal to both existing and new viewers. GlowTV believes that ‘local is lekker’ and also showcases a variety of local-related content.

Nazeer Noormohamed added: “We have received an influx of support from our loyal viewers regarding this matter, for which we are most thankful. We will continue to bring our viewers the best content that they has them riveted to their seats.”

GlowTV can be viewed on DStv Channel 167, OpenView HD Channel 140 and StarSat Channel 570.
