If you think the TV remote control war is about to end as the World Cup draws to a close, think again. SABC 1 returns with an bang post the soccer fever with nine sizzling new shows kicking off on Monday July 16.
Some of the hottest new offering includes Gospel Unplugged, a contemporary gospel show with a twist of R&B, hip hop and house music.
The show is presented by Idols’ 2015 runner-up turned gospel singer Mmatema Motemi, the resident DJ on set and karaoke session.
The show’s guests include gospel stars Dr Tumi, Mahalia Buchanan, Benjamin and of cause the legendary Dr Rebecca Malope.
Another fresh and exciting show to look out for is the The Remix, with hip hop star Rouge and Mzansi Insider host Kgaugelo Makholwane as presenters and Metro FM’s Mo Flava and singing sensation Kelly Khumalo on the judging panel.
The Remixis an adaptation of an international realty format in search of best singer-Music-DJ/Producer team who can offer a complete new spin to favourite tracks, the contestants will be given an original song of any genre and they will have to remix it in another genre, be it hip hop, gqom, maskandi, gospel, anything goes in this show.
The channel is also introducing a gripping mini series Emoyeni, a 4-part series where the supernatural realm collides head on with the ordinary starting on Sunday, July 22.
Raw Silkis back is back with the second season. Hosted by Pearl Modiadie together with resident judges, celebrity stylist and makeup guru Nthato Mashishi, founder of South African fashion label House of Ole, Ole Ledimo, style guru Jasmin Furmie who were in attendance at the official launch of the channel’s new, cutting edge and revamped line up.
The event was held at Levelthree in Kramerville, Sandton on Thursday, July 5. Mahalia Buchanan was spotted in the crowd and Hlengiwe Mthwethwa of Joyous Celebrations who gave us a taste of what to expect on Gospel Unplugged with l ead vocalist for the band MuzArt and TV presenter Rorisang Thandekiso as the event's host.
