Actor Mduduzi Mabaso, well known for his role as Suffocate on "Rhythm City," has taken up a new role on etv’s "Imbewu: The Seed".

The actor will still remain on "Rhythm City," but will travel to Durban to shoot "Imbewu".

Mabaso will make his first appearance on the local show on Thursday, where he will be introduced as MaJozi, the man in the yellow car.

MaJozi is a self-made millionaire who went to school with Zimele.

“MaJozi grew up in the kasi but moved to Johannesburg, He didn’t finish school, but pushed himself to learn. Now he is a well-established businessman who comes to Durban for a business meeting with a friend. Since MaZulu is his friend, whom he didn’t see in years, he decides to pay her a visit to see if she is ok. Then the story moves forward from here,” said Mabaso.

He said working between shows was hard, but he loved it because it kept him on his toes.

“It’s a new experience. It’s very different, but fun. What I enjoyed most about the role is the language. It is so real and authentic. And there is no beating around the bush in the script, it’s straight to the point,” Mabaso said.

The actor openly said although he heard of "Imbewu," he had not watched a single episode of the show and had to quickly catch up on the storyline after getting the role.

“It’s strange to say but actors hardly watch TV. I had to pick up on the story. It was a good story, it was well shot and it was fresh and new. I could see the actors were hungry - which was exciting,” said Mabaso.

He said he enjoyed watching with the rest of the cast.

“I’ve seen them around, but never acted with them. They are a great cast and I’m learning so much from them. I love the fact that Durban is producing such top quality TV shows," he said.

The show promises an edgy and intriguing plot that is bound to leave viewers gasping for more.

Viewers can expect to see the debut of Majozi on tonight, Thursday, September 13 on e.tv. He will be bringing more uncertainty to Ngcolosi as he pays a surprise visit to his wife, MaZulu.
