Johannesburg - Beware the Sharknado!

According to actress and socialite Tara Reid, a sharknado – the unholy union of tornados and sharks – is a terrifyingly real possibility.

Reid, who starred in the 2013 TV movie Sharknado, claimed the far-fetched scenario in which sharks not only can exist out of the ocean, but also clamber up ropes using their teeth, could actually happen.

“There could be a sharknado,” she said in an interview with GQ magazine to promote Sharknado 2.

'You know, it actually can happen. I mean, the chances of it happening are very rare, but it can happen actually.

“Which is crazy. Not that it – the chances of it are, like, you know, it's like probably ‘pigs could fly’. Like, I don't think pigs could fly, but actually sharks could be stuck in tornados.”

This could well be the interview that one day returns to bite her, kind of like a sharknado, especially since her co-stars in that awful movie were far more tongue-in-cheek with their replies.

Ian Ziering, who made his name on Beverly Hills 90210, claimed a sharknado would never be as scary as a tornado of lawyers.

He also had some words of advice for Tara, should she ever encounter a sharknado: “Get yourself the biggest, badass chainsaw you can find and hope for the best”.

Sharknado was a hit on release, with 2-million viewers tuning in to prove that people will watch just about anything. Sharknado 2 was released in the US and Britain last month. - Tonight Reporter
