B-Boys face-off at the Waterfront

The Kasi Explosion at Mzoli's

Everyone’s invited to Cape Town’s freshest tshisa nyama street party experience, the Kasi Explosion – brought to you by Smirnoff – at Mzoli's in Gugulethu on Sunday, 30 April. The hottest House, Hip Hop and Kwaito beats will be brought to you by DJs like iKapa’s own Kyeezi, Groove Afrika, Mshayi and Glen Stylez. Gates to Kasi Explosion will be open from 12pm. Entrance is free.

Jazz weekend

The SAJE Jazz Festival runs until Sunday with various performances and workshops. Bassist Carlo Mombelli joins pianist Kyle Shepherd and The Bokani Dyer Trio at the Reeler Theatre in Rondebosch on Friday night. On Sunday, International Jazz Day, the Magashen Naidoo Quintet will perform. The Festival is a biennial event focusing on jazz education, workshops, performance, discussion, skills development and audience development. It offers a unique forum for musicians, academics, educators, jazz fans, students and learners, to engage with the latest sounds and ideas in jazz. Along with workshops and performances and industry displays, there are opportunities for discussion, information exchange, and networking. Gloria Bosman, Vicky Sampson and Amanda Strydom are performing in Legendary Divas on Monday, Worker’s Day at the Artscape Opera House, at 2pm.
