• Desire Under the Elms runs from tomorrow to July 26 at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio. Eugene O’Neill is considered one of the world’s greatest playwrights and the father of modern American drama. This production transposes O’Neill’s New England setting to the Eastern Cape in the 1890s. 7pm. R120 at Computicket.

• Fishers of Hope runs from Thursday to August 2 at the Baxter Theatre. Set along the lakes of Kenya, Lara Foot’s production explores the theme of hope: its essence, longevity and possible demise. Cast: Mncedisi Shabangu, Shaun Oelf, Phillip Dikotla, Lesedi Job, Phillip Tipo Tindisa. 7.30pm. R120 at Computicket.

• Slowly runs from July 17 to August 3 at the Artscape Arena. As invading barbarians approach the palace of a decaying culture, four princesses debate their fate. Director Geoffery Hyland, choreographer Jacki Job, decor design Geoffery Hyland and Nicolas Mayer. 7pm. R80 at Computicket.

• The Shadow of the Hummingbird runs from Thursday to July 26 at The Fugard Theatre. Written and directed by and starring Athol Fugard, who returns to the stage after an absence of 15 years and plays opposite Marviantos Baker in this intimate, delicate two-hander. • Help I Am Free runs from Thursday to Saturday at the Artscape Theatre. This story is developed by inmates at Pollsmoor Correctional Services and is based on their experiences inside this infamous prison. 7.30pm. Free.
