Take drive down a country road to Backsberg in Paarl on Sunday Backsberg for the first of their summer picnic concerts.

The well-loved wine estate presented its first picnic concert series back in 2010. And since then, these popular events have become a really cool and chilled staple on the winelands entertainment calendar. What's not to love about ending off the weekend lazing under the trees on the sprawling lawns and enjoying fine wines, great food and live music by some of the best South African musical entertainment on offer?

Kids get to have their own fun too, with jumping castles and lawn games.  It’s the perfect way for families to wind down ahead of a new work and school week, relaxing in a stunning setting with family and friends, surrounded by lush vineyards and the amazing beauty of the Simonsberg Mountain range.

Picnic boxes are available  and include a selection of fresh bread, quiche, charcuterie, locally sourced cheese, olives, pâtés, preserves, pinotage onion relish, pickles, a chef’s salad, a chocolate brownie and fresh seasonal fruit salad. Wine, beer and cider also up for grabs as well as an assortment of easy foods such as wraps, burgers, fries, soft drinks and water.

Doors open at 3pm with the opening act starting at 4pm. The main band takes over at 5pm and the final set ends at 7pm. Tickets are available via Webtickets at R120 a person or R230 including a picnic box; or alternatively, at the gate on the day at R150 a person or R60 per student on presentation of a valid Student Card. Children under 12 enter free of charge.
