BARNYARD THEATRE: Forever Young is dedicated to those singers who remain etched in our memories: Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Barry White and Ray Charles as well as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Eddie Cochran. More recent singers who left their mark on our world are also featured such as John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse and Bob Marley. The show stars Tiaan Rautenbach, Percy Smith and Gavin Esterhuizen on male vocals along with Maryke Buffel and Peyton Amber on female vocals. CATALINA THEATRE: Just Yours is a Second World War romance set in Durban, February 1943. Stages until Saturday. Written and directed by Sandy Bigara, it is filled with the haunting love songs of the 1940s such as Bei Mir Bist du Schon, Auf Wiedersehen, If I Loved You, Just Yours and more – performed by Bigara. THE PLAYHOUSE: Celebrating its sixth anniversary, Think Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s Othello stages until March 20. The production will then tour to Gauteng for a return season at the University of Johannesburg from May 5 to 16, followed by performances at the Brooklyn Theatre in Pretoria from May 18 to 22. Directed by Clare Mortimer, Durban Theatre Award-winner Nhlakanipho Manqele takes the demanding title role for the first time, playing opposite fellow rising new-comer, Cara Roberts, as Desdemona. Also starring Clinton Small as villainous Iago and Mortimer as his wife Emilia, with Michael Gritten, Daisy Spencer, Marc Kay, Bryan Hiles, Rowan Bartlett and Darren King. CATALINA THEATRE: Polart presents their second drama of the year, Beggar, from February 26 to March 2. A one-man play supported by excerpts from the movie of the same name. We look at people all the time, but do we see them? We hear people all the time, but are we listening to them? Beggar is a work of acute perception and dramatic vigour. Tom Dennen plays the hapless man who has lost love among all his worldly possessions and happens on two students who have their own dilemmas to deal with. R100 at Computicket.
