POPULAR Durban comedian Mervyn Pillay brings to the stage a unique comedy and music offering with the show Braz Ouz in Concert, opening in Durban next week.
Pillay is to host and “play ring master” in his new show, which he said came with a yearning to bring something new to stage. “After my one-man show, One Nite Stand, I wanted to present something fresh, new and different to what I have done in the past. The show will be a mix of stand-up comedy acts and songs.”
Pillay explained that Braz Ouz (slang reference to male friends) is a typical Durban term of endearment, hence the title of the show. “The Braz Ouz are myself, singer/musician Lendel Moonsamy (of Idols fame), actor/comedian Arnotte Payne (Bruin Ous Only), singer Darrius Pillay (Supersterre finalist) and comedian Anesh Dasrath (Tamasha aur Masti). This will be the first time we come together in a show of comedy and songs.”
Pillay has promised some brand new comedy material covering “everything that we normally don’t want to talk about”.
