It's time of the year again where Africa’s biggest race day takes centre stage and where horses are the talk of the town, for most people.

For others, the Vodacom Durban July is the perfect excuse to step out in their Sunday best, try to get a selfie with one of the many celebrities that attend and party all night long, and this year is no exception.

If social media is anything to go by, the July is still as popular as it was 10 years ago and guests can expect to party in style in one of the many marquees scattered around the Greyville racecourse.

These are some of the marquees you want to be seen in:

BOOMTOWN

The Amstel Boomtown Durban July marquee will be the biggest hospitality marquee at the July on Saturday. The Amstel Boomtown marquee celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year and will again offer superior hospitality, epic event layout and an awesome line-up.

Among the artists performing at this marquee are Babes Wodumo, HHP, Shekinah and the legendary Bongo Maffin. There will also be a string of DJs who promise to deliver some high energy sets.

THE GLENLIVET JAZZTOWN

With a definitive, world-class South African jazz experience, 5-star hospitality and a glass-fronted marquee overlooking the racecourse, it offers the perfect backdrop to enjoy this grand social gathering.

The music line-up headed by legendary South African songstress Thandiswa Mazwai and Afro-soul hitmaker Ringo Madlingozi also includes Vusi Nova; jazz singer and pianist Nomfundo Xaluva; and Standard Bank Young Artist awardwinning pianist Bokani Dyer – with funk vinyl and rare groove king DJ Bob, and hiphop DJ PH on the decks.

AFROTAINMENT MARQUEE

This is probably one of the more popular marquees to party in because of its lineup. DJ Tira’s #AfroMarquee2018 usually attracts 600 guests. Set in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Durban July it’s the perfect place to watch all the fashion passing by and rub shoulders with the who’s who of the SA music industry.

Now in its ninth year, the Pegasus Lounge has established itself as the premier hospitality event at the Vodacom Durban July. The Pegasus Lounge prides itself on offering luxury hospitality at the most desirable event on the social calendar. With a focus on attention to detail, service, high-end catering and beverage offerings as well as superior decor elements, it ensures peace of mind on the day while entertaining and networking with guests. With clear views of the horses from the Pegasus Lounge, one gets a true sense of the occasion.

And the after parties? Well there are a few, including the Fact Durban Rocks Durban July After Party at People’s Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday. Umlazi’s popular shisa nyama spot, Eyadini Lounge, will also be hosting an after party.

Tickets to all marquees and after parties mentioned above can be purchased at Computicket.
