The Coca-Cola Collaboration album, featuring a galaxy of local superstars, is now available at record shops. The various musical collaborations on the album - simply titled The Collaboration - have been featured each week on Coca-Cola Popstars, currently running on SABC1 on Tuesdays

at 8.30pm.

The album has produced such gems as the youthful guitar-driven sound of Can You Feel It Burning, which is a collaboration between teen rock favourites Tweak and hip-hop mover and shaker Pro-verb as well as singer Josie.

Among the artists on The Collaboration are Afrikaner rocker Karen Zoid and Afro-pop princess Thandiswa Mazwai, who appear together on the Zoid-penned song Lover's Groove.

Uthando is another interesting title and a collaborative product of industry big-wigs Ringo Madlingozi, Rebecca Malope and Thembisile of the 2003 Popstars group Adilah.

Another ground-breaking collaboration is that of house music pacesetters Brothers of Peace, who are paired with leading rock music act Watershed on So Strange.

Outrageous Records executive Dzino says of the compilation: "With certain artists we said we were working on the collaboration and asked them who they would like to work with.

"And with other artists we paired them with people who we thought would challenge each other."

Mazwai talks about the album concept and her work with Zoid.

"I'm on the hip side of black things and she's on the hip Afrikaner side. So this song forces the two sides together and it's cool."

Former TKZee member Kabelo aka Bouga Luv appears on Thina Kayi One with hip-hop duo H20 and R&B's Lira. Another interesting collaboration is the pairing of two of the highest-flying stars in their respective genres - R&B's Danny K and kwaito's Mandoza - on the title Music.

Danny K says: "It pushes boundaries ... it's the type of song that bridges a lot of gaps. We need to represent the new South Africa."

Mandoza adds: "This type of project deals with all the beef in the industry and gets people to know and respect each other."

All the artists on the album will receive royalties from the sales.
