The Saturday Social Club is back to warm up your weekend at the Red Roman Shed at Emperor’s Palace next month, featuring bands such as Fokofpolisiekar, and The Narrow will join the line-up in August.
After a successful opening weekend on April 14, which featured Prime Circle and Dirty Moonshine, The Saturday Social Club’s upcoming shows are sure to draw as many rock fans as the first weekend did.
June 9 will see performances by Afrikaans rock band Fokofpolisiekar, rock ‘n roll romantics Sweet Resistance, a history lesson in electric guitar-based rock music by Six String Stories, and seasoned rock performers playing a combination of heartfelt, passionate rock tracks that will have hints of electric-sampling, set to push the boundaries of emotions through music.
The lead singer of Six String Stories, Nic Rush, promises the upcoming show will be an amazing music experience in a friendly and social space.
“There’s nothing quite like a great rock show, and we’re excited to grow this brand and showcase some of the best South African music heavyweights with some of the top up-and-coming artists. There is no doubt that this series will have something very special and unique to offer fans,” he said.
Fokofpolisiekar have made a name for themselves during their 15-year career, having spawned successful albums and hit singles like Komma, Antibiotika and Brand Suid-Afrika.
After their most recent album release last year, titled Self-Medikasie, the band have shown that their passion for their music is alive and well.
The group have managed to keep their sound fresh and authentic and they bring a raw energy to their live performances.
Their ever-growing popularity is testament to the band’s artistic substance and impact on society.
Fokofpolisiekar are among the bands performing at The Saturday Social Club on June 9.
