Call for Entries:
The Imbewu Trust is calling for applications for their third SCriBE Scriptwriting Competition with a number of prizes available this year. Closing date is Thursday and the top five scripts will be selected for a week-long staged reading in October with the opportunity for discussion and feedback from the public and members of the theatre industry. The winning script will be produced by a professional team for a run at a Cape Town theatre next year. A second winner will further workshop the play with a third award a financial prize to enable a writer to work alongside a mentor to develop the script. The Imbewu Trust was founded by Same de Romijn and Paul Griffiths to create an accessible community of varied voices that can flourish through collaboration, resourcefulness and innovation. Imbewu is looking for new works of outstanding quality, original content and which represent the range of the South African theatre landscape. Call for Proposals:
The Goethe-Institut is calling for project ideas for exhibitions, workshops, events and performances. The way selection takes place is central in understanding the philosophy of GoetheonMain. The programme is decided by an independent committee of arts professionals, who meet after the yearly public call for proposals. The focus is on artistic quality, while maintaining a sensitivity for the context and local relevance, and favouring an experimental approach. It also implies a certain conceptual frame – that of the city, or a sense of “urbanity”: a focus on the human relation as much as built environment.
