Soweto is gearing up to host the Miss Soweto 2018 finals on Saturday, December 1.

The city with host the 39th annual Miss Soweto at the Soweto Theatre, where the Top 20 finalists will strut their stuff on the runway while vying for the judge’s votes - marking the end of a year-long reign for Miss Soweto 2017 Busisiwe Mmotla.

House and kwaito maestro Zakes Bantwini, will be the headline act on the night and he will have the guests on their feet with his rhythmic music.

This year’s judges include celebrity Chef, Lucia Mthiyane who is an actress, singer, celebrity chef, and an entrepreneur. 

"We are looking forward to seeing all the finalists pulling all stops to become the next Miss Soweto. 

"All the finalists have worked extremely hard to make it to the Top 20 and we are extremely proud of the fact that all the ladies are learning valuable lessons through the rehearsals and coaching sessions that have been put in place to ensure that they are equipped with the confidence to walk on stage with a huge crowd cheering them on”, says Mthiyane.

Miss Soweto pageant was established in 1979 and was created to bring awareness to the women of Soweto.

Some of the previous winners of Miss Soweto include media mogul Basetsana Kumalo. She was crowned Miss South Africa in 1994 and in the same year became the first runner-up in Miss World.
