Durban - Among the many dance-makers to showcase their creative work at this year’s JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, which starts on Wednesday, is Durbanite Thobile Maphanga.

She will perform with the inimitable Flatfoot Dance Company, Horror Collective with dance teacher and performer, Shelby Strange and Durban performer, Kirsty Ndawo, as well as in a piece by fellow Flatfoot dancer Sifiso Khumalo.

For the Flatfoot Dance Company, she has been working with young adult Down syndrome dancers, on a piece called Cardiac Output.

On Monday, the dancers begin work with choreographer Adriaan  Luteijn, from Introdans in the Netherlands, to finalise the piece for festival on Sunday, September 3.

The JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience is a 12-day festival that brings together an eclectic mix of contemporary dancers and choreographers with performances at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, KZNSA and at UKZN.

Book at Computicket or at the venues’ box-office. For details: www.cca.ukzn.ac.za.
