Durban Comedy festival... a feast of laughter

Durban - The Durban Comedy festival 2017 sees a line-up of 17 of SA’s funniest comedians descend on Durban for four shows of comedy mayhem from Wednesday, December 20, to Saturday, December 23. 

Described as the “hottest thing to do” this festive season, the line-up includes legends such as Nik Rabinowitz, John Vlismas and Joey Rasdien, as well as KZN’s top comedy acts, Annalakshmi, Neil Green, Robby Collins, Neville Pillay, Richelieu Beaunoir, Masood Boomgard, Jem Atkins and more. 

Crazy Funny

Wednesday, December 20, Gateway Hotel 7.30pm.

A two-hour comedy feast, Crazy Funny will see the best of Durban’s comedy talent on stage, including Robby Collins, Annalakshmi, Neville Pillay, Masood Boomgard, Kelvin Stoffels, Kwanda Radebe, Mo Vawda, Kamz Govender and Darryl Williams.

Xmas Crackers

Thursday, December 21, Butler’s Restaurant 8.30pm.

Hosted at Butler’s Restaurant in Hillcrest, Xmas Crackers features top SA funnyman, Nik Rabinowitz and is hosted by the irrepressible John Vlismas. The line-up also includes Jem Atkins, Mfundo Ndovela and Andrew Hughes.

Buffet dinner is separate and restaurant bookings essential.

Headliners

Friday, December 22, Gateway Hotel 7.30pm.

This is the main event of the Durban Comedy festival and will be hosted at the Gateway Hotel with internationally acclaimed Nik Rabinowitz, as well as the very entertaining Joey Rasdien and Loyiso Madinga, who is fresh off the Trending Comics tour and is described as “ridiculously funny”. Durban comic Neil Green will be on stage and the evening will be hosted by Richelieu Beaunoir.

Whose Line

Saturday, December 23, Gateway Hotel 8.30pm.

Described as a “side-splitting comedy feast”, this show is a take-off of the popular US TV show Who’s Line Is It Anyway?

Hosted by John Vlismas, this improv comedy show will see four comedians make up everything on stage based on audience interaction and suggestions which will see an evening of off-the-cuff hilarity.

No under 16s. Tickets R150.
