DURBAN - The Independent on Saturday’s guide to some of the best parties lined up for the 2018 Vodacom Durban July.

Remember to carry many outfit changes because there are a load of fab VDJ pre-parties, parties and after-parties lined up.

Entry Tickets: General entrance tickets to the Greyville Racecourse cost R220.

Weapons, illegal substances, alcohol, gazebos, chairs, umbrellas, braais and drones are not allowed into the venue, or any marquees. General entrance tickets do not allow access into private marquees.

Pre-parties:

Creme De La Creme VDJ Pre-Party: At Barrio restaurant in uMhlanga Ridge (Shop 7, 12 On Palm Boulevard), the pre-party features Fistazmixwell, Fresh, Vini da Vinci, DJ Bongani, Maboi and Ocean. Tickets R300 at Computicket.

Party On The Beach VDJ Pre-Party: Moyo beach bar and pier, at uShaka, starts the party from 7pm on the Durban July eve to start the Durban July weekend. Live artists and DJs including Okmalumkoolkat, Fistaz Mixwell, Sox and DJ Lag, Websta, Stanky, Jnr B and Sonic Nag will be playing. Tickets cost R150 at Computicket.

Eyadini Lounge Pre-Party:

Eyadini Lounge pre-party stars Lerato Kganyago, DJ Malwela, Mo Flava, Shimza and Naked. From 4pm on July 6. Tickets from R100 at Computicket.

Absolute Florida: On Florida Road, a pre-party featuring DJ Sox, Stanky, Jnr B, Sonic, Funkysoul and more. Tickets from R200 at the door.

On the day party marquees:

Afrotainment VDJ Marquee 2018: Afrotainment Marquee, hosted by DJ Tira, is touted as the venue to be seen at. Host DJ Tira, AKA, Sjava, Distruction Boyz, Tresor, Naak Musiq, Bhashkar, DJ Cndo, PH, Da Capo and Rocksilver are set to perform. R45000 buys a VIP table, while lounge tickets at R2250 include three complimentary sponsor drinks, complimentary snacks for lunch and a buffet dinner, and entertainment throughout the day. Amstel Boomtown: Bongo Maffin, Shekhinah, Babes Wodumo, HHP, Dream Team, Shimza, Maphorisa, Da Capo, DJ PH, Major League and DJ Sumbody are set to perform at the 10th anniversary Amstel Boomtown marquee. Package tickets from R2500 to R3500 will get you bar facilities, complimentary drinks, a complimentary buffet lunch and dinner. General area tickets cost R690. Ayepyep Lifestyle Marquee:

Pretoria comes to Durban with the Ayepyep Lifestyle Marquee, hosting entertainment such as DJ Sumbody, Slip Inc, Fistaz Mixwell and Major League. R3500 secures a ticket to the VVIP area, which includes finger foods, buffet, champagne, cognac and whisky lounge, while the R2500 VIP ticket gets you cocktails, buffet, champagne and vodka lounge. Durban July Eyadini Experience: Eyadini’s lounge features Cassper Nyovest, AKA, Sjava, Shimza, Tipcee, Babes Wodumo, Distruction Boys, Oskido, Euphonic, Fresh Gayani, DJ Zinhle, Lvovo, among many, many more. VIP tickets cost R2250. Bookings at Computicket.

Gagasi Red Star Experience: The Gagasi FM Red Star Experience makes a comeback this year with Shimza, Zakwe, Busiswa, Professor and Unathi among many others. It includes a fashion show. Tickets range from R400 to R3300. Bookings at Computicket.

Maskandi Durban July Festival: For something not quite at the Greyville Racecourse, but still part of the festivities, the Maskandi Durban July Festival takes place at the Curries Fountain Sports Ground featuring some of the best Maskandi artists including Khuzani, Igcokama Elisha, Thokozani Langa, DSD, and more. General area tickets cost R100, while VIP tickets cost R500 and include platters and drinks. Bookings at Computicket.

Nasty C

Memento’s Lifestyle Marquee: Billed as “a new, fresh dimension to a world-renowned event”. IVIP tickets cost R2500 and include food and selected drinks. Bookings at Computicket.

Pegasus Lounge, Durban: Pegasus Lounge advertises catering and beverages as guests watch the races. A VIP ticket at R4650 includes private bar, full complimentary bar, private toilet and tote facilities, and more. Bookings at Computicket.

The Champagne Life Lounge: Billed as the best viewing deck at the races, the venue hosts Sama winners Tresor and Lady Zama and Sama-nominated SA Hip Hop Da Les. Fact Durban Rocks: On Durban July day, the party starts at the Peoples Park from 6pm, when DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz, Tipcee, Joocy, Naak Musiq, Duncan, Da Capo, PH, Riky Rick, Nasty C, Okmalumkoolkat, Dladla Mshunqisi, Black Motion, Kwesta and many more perform. Durban July Block Party 2018: New School and Tiger Tiger clubs merge to host the Durban July Block Party featuring Asante, Huckleberry, Syzo, Jayy Jabs and Knott from 8pm on July 7. Tickets are R90 at Computicket.
