Johannesburg - Multi-award winning gospel artist and author, Jabu Hlongwane, unveiled his live gospel album  Crosspower Experience 3 on Friday.

Speaking about the process behind making the album, Hlongwane said: “It was an amazing experience at a parking lot in downtown Johannesburg. I wanted a different venue from the normal gospel space, to remove all the frills and focus on the music. I also managed to put together the most amazing team of musicians and singers who thoroughly enjoyed making the music.

"The music I wrote for this project is very special to me because it reflects the time and space I am at right now. I have reached a space where I create the music that I want to hear, and I am not confined by what people might expect from a Gospel music album. It’s contemporary and varied.”

Moya Ka Jehova, the single off the album, is a prayer for the intervention of God in the church, the artist said. “There is so much going on and people get confused because of many new teachings about God. The song is simply inviting the Spirit of God to intervene and give us guidance,” said Hlongwane.

Describing the significance of the first single  Wabethelwa, Hlongwane said: “I wrote this song three years ago and it carries the heartbeat of Crosspower Experience 3. Writing the song came from the awareness of how much we need God as people as well as how much He loves us, despite our frailties and shortcomings. The chorus says “Ngangingafanele” which simply means “I did not deserve it”.

Crosspower Experience 3 is scheduled for release on 26 January and is available to pre-order on iTunes and Google Play from today. Gospel music lovers who pre-order the album before the release, and will receive  Wabethelwa as well.
