Durban - Three international acts will be on stage at this year’s Splashy Fen Music Festival.

Announcing the main stage line-up this week, the festival’s organisers, Impi Concept Events, confirmed

Grammy-nominated Texan band, Bowling For Soup, Australian folk duo, Pierce Brothers, as well as Napalma, a Brazilian and African fusion act which is set to rock festival audiences.

Bowling for Soup have 13 successful punk-pop albums, with popular hits such as 1985, High School Never Ends and Girl All The Bad Guys Want, while Pierce Brothers, twins Jack and Pat, started out busking on the streets of Melbourne to what is now a world-class live show.

Napalma, which started during a carnival in Brazil in 2004, will bring “their powerful electronic dance moves, percussion and rhythms”.

While the early days of the festival saw folk and light folk rock, this has evolved with more alternative rock and, in recent years, electro styles.

The popular Splashy Fen will take place over the Easter weekend from March 31 to April 2 in the rolling hills of the Underberg and festival director, Stu Berry, said this year’s event had a formidable line-up.

“We are extremely excited to have worked on building such a diverse line-up for 2018. We have created what we believe is our strongest main stage line-up to date, with three international performers complemented by South Africa’s top musical acts and bands.”

Big names in the South African music scene include – Goodluck, Mango Groove, as well as Rubber DUC, Perez, Ard Matthews, Josh Wantie, Prime Circle, Matthew Mole, Desmond and the Tutus, Verandah Panda and up-and-coming Cape Town band, Hot Water.

The organisers said “throwing in some folk, acoustic, electro pop and rock” to the main stage line-up would add to the weekend of good vibes.
