Durban - A man believed to be in his twenties has been killed after the bank he was working on collapsed entrapping him under the sand just before 1pm on Tuesday. The incident occurred on the corner of Westcliff Drive and Presley Avenue in Chatsworth.
Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said paramedics were called to assist by a member of the public. On their arrival they found a man entrapped under the sand, he was assessed by paramedics and found that he had died from the severity of his injuries. The scene was then handed over to SAPS Search and Rescue and the Durban Fire Department.
Jamieson said that at this stage the events leading up to the incident were unknown. He said SAPS were on the scene and are investigating further.
Earlier on Tuesday a taxi transporting children crashed into a tree in Isipingo.
According to ER 24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, 21 children were injured - none seriously - following the accident on Ramadas Road. He said paramedics arrivd just after 7am to find a taxi on the side of the road against a tree.The Independent on Saturday
