Durban - Seven people were injured this morning when a bakkie overturned on the N3 Durban bound near the Peacevale off-ramp at Hammarsdale.

Traffic from Pietermaritzburg to Durban was heavily affected.

ER24 said paramedics found the bakkie lying on its side in the middle of the road. Several passengers, that had been traveling on the back of the bakkie, were walking around the scene. It was unclear how the accident took place.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that seven had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The patients were treated for their injuries and were transported to Hillcrest Private and Life Westville Hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were investigating.

Yesterday, Rescue Care said one person was injured after two vehicles collided at the corner of Nicholson Road and Penzance Road in Glenwood at 7am. One person hsustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Three people were also injured after a taxi and a bakkie collided in a T Bone format on the R603 Umbumbulu Road joining the N2 north bound on Wednesday morning.
