Durban - The memorial service for two employees of the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board who died in a boat accident in Richards Bay last week will be held in Durban tomorrow.

The incident occurred when the marine officials were servicing shark nets. The boast capsized killing Richard Gumede and Mandlakayise Gumede. Employees Eric Buthelezi and Siqiniseko Ngibekele survived. The search continues for Siyabonga Gabela whose body has still not been found.  

MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda, will attend the service at eThekwini Community Church, 180 Anton Lembede (Smith Street) at 11am. 

MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala, said: “We would like to send our sincere condolences to the families of our employees who passed on. We also wish those who survived the ordeal a speedy recovery. Our officials together with the National Sea Rescue Institute and Portnet are currently searching for the missing employee.”
