Sapref donates 20th science lab in south Durban
Durban - The South African Petroleum Refineries has donated it’s 20th science laboratory to Mafumbuka High School in Umlazi in a bid to strengthen the teaching of maths and science.
The company said it was their 20th science lab donated to Durban south schools in recent years.
Sapref said they had converted a former classroom into a fully equipped science laboratory with work benches benches, cupboards, bunsen burners, science kits and chemicals.
“This lab will make all the difference in the teaching and learning of science here at Mafumbuka. Our learners and teachers will now see and touch science equipment and experiments will come alive, thus helping our learners to understand better and to perform better,” said Mr Ngcobo, the principal.
Ton Wielers, the managing director for the oil giants said the intiative was to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning.
“It is part of a wider response by Sapref to the call to uplift conditions in schools, especially in the area of maths, science and technology,” he said.Independent On Saturday
