If adventure runs in your family or circle of friends, then a zip line activity should be at the top of your bucket list this holiday season. KwaZulu-Natal is home to a range of zip-lining activities. 

Here are some of our top picks:

All Out Adventures

Located in the northern Drakensberg, All Out Adventures has two zip line activities. The cable tour has a series of six zip lines that showcase the beauty of the Drakensberg and give you a surge of adrenalin. Those who cannot commit to an hour can try the two-zip adventure. This will take around 5-10 minutes. The cable tour costs R590 for adults and R490 for children aged 12 and younger. The two-cable zip costs R160 per person or R420 for three people. Club Venture: 

Club Venture is home to the world’s first parazip that gives people the feeling of parachuting down a mountain while still attached to a zip line cable. The 1.5km zip-line tour offers five lines with 10 platforms. Visitors will have a view of the Sanpoya River as they glide from one platform to the next. Club Ventures is running a special. Karkloof Canopy Tour

Situated 20km north of Howick on the Karkloof Road, Karkloof Canopy Tours remains one of the most popular zip lines in the province. Following a short scenic drive to the top of the Karkloof Valley, visitors get to enjoy 10 zip slides with 12 platforms. Chimp and Zee at Ushaka Marine World:

Ushaka Marine’s Chimp and Zee obstacle and zip line course is worth a visit. It is great for children. There are two courses, an introductory and an intermediate journey. Lake Eland Zip Lines

Lake Eland Zip Lines is the longest zip-line tour in Africa and with good reason. Spanning 4.5km, visitors get to see the stunning Oribi Gorge in all its glory. The tour has 14 slides with 18 platforms. The longest zip line soars for 680m and is 300m high above the gorge. That is not all: one of the slides crosses over the lake, while another goes through a tunnel. The rate is R550 per person. Located at Road P626, Oribi Flats, Port Shepstone. Call 083 257 9468.
