Marrowbone tells the story of four orphan siblings who only have each other as they face the looming threat of a horrible past. While the siblings try to overcome their plight, they take shelter in an isolated house, which acts as a safe haven for their broken family.
The film is the directorial debut of sergio g. Sánchez – best known as a scriptwriter for The Orphanage and The Impossible.
Executive producer J.A. Bayona is currently helming Jurassic world: Fallen Kingdom – after producing Marrowbone, T he Orphanage, the first few episodes of TV’s Penny Dreadful, and winning the Goya award (Spanish Oscars) as best director for his work on a monster calls (a film which won 9 goals in total, as well as receiving golden Globe-nominations for its cast).
Bayona’s producing partner Belén Atienza is best-known for his work on Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning Pan’s Labyrinth.
