This week on The Intern by David Tlale, a reality show by the top designer which seeks young designers to compete into working with him. Contestants were faced with the CNA challenge in which they were tasked with creating a high-end fashion ensemble using nothing but CNA stationery supplies.
The contestants wowed the judges with their unconventional and dramatic designs but the one that stood out the most was that of Cyla Gonsolves. Cyla’s use of materials was playful yet fashion-forward and encompassed the brief whilst remaining true to her individual style.
The bodice of Cyla’s design made use of a beautiful paper rolling technique called quilling and the skirt harnessed multiple strips of colorful paper, giving way to the title - ‘Colourful and Creative’.
