London - Her father has never been one to be bothered by convention.

And it seems Jade Jagger is following in Sir Mick’s footsteps after she revealed she delivered her own granddaughter – while nine months pregnant herself with son Ray.

The jewellery designer, 46, and her daughter Assisi Jackson, 25, had babies within days of each other in 2014.

Speaking to British Vogue, Miss Jagger said Miss Jackson, 25, gave birth at home in Cornwall after a 72-hour labour, during which they walked around the countryside as she was having contractions.

"People are often amazed to hear that, I delivered my first granddaughter, Ezra, myself," she said, revealing that she had taken charge even though a midwife was at hand.

"Assisi, had a home birth, just like I did when I had her. All of this might have been slightly easier to handle if I hadn’t been almost nine months pregnant myself.

"But I suppose that’s the sort of thing that happens when your family doesn’t worry too much about convention."

Jagger said having babies so close together had helped her bond with Miss Jackson. "Once I told Assisi that she was going to have a little brother - and wrapped my head around the idea of becoming a grandmother in my early 40s - being pregnant at the same time as my daughter became a truly bonding experience," she said.

Jagger is the second eldest of the Rolling Stones frontman’s eight children, who range in ages from one to 47.
