London - Queen Elizabeth was celebrating the announcement of a new great-granddaughter on Tuesday after Zara Philips gave birth.

The as yet unnamed girl weighed in at 9lb 3oz (about 4.2kg) – the heaviest royal baby in recent years.

Zara, Princess Anne’s daughter, gave birth on Monday at Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire. Her husband, former England rugby captain Mike Tindall, was present.

The new baby – a sister for Mia, four – will not be given a royal title but will be 19th in line to the throne.

In December 2016, Zara, 37, lost the baby she was carrying weeks after announcing her pregnancy.
