Dimples are on trend. Marchelle Abrahams looks at celebs that have them, and how to get them cosmetically or enhance them with makeup or piercings.

We’ve seen cosmetic trends come and go. A few years ago the butt implant trend had women knocking down doors of cosmetic surgeons, eagerly gripping pictures of Kim K and JLo’s large derrieres.

And now it seems dimples are the hot thing to have in town.

But you have to admit, there is something about dimples. It’s the things boyish good looks and girly strawberry kisses are made of.

And if you don’t have them, fake it!

Pierce it

Also referred to as cheek piercings, dimple piercings are one of the most asked for body modifications. And guess what? According to popular belief, a cheek piercing is capable of forming permanent dimples on the face.

But before committing to getting one, there are some health risks attached to it. For example, the actual procedure can be quite painful because the cheek has lots of muscle. Also, bacteria in the mouth can cause severe infection.

Makeup

If you’re going for a short-time solution, eyeshadow or eyeliner could be it.

Firstly, decide where you want to place it. Remember, you want it to look as natural as possible and most natural dimples occur near the outer crease line of your smile.

YouTube is filled with How To tutorials on how to place them, but it comes down to correct placement and contouring.

Cosmetic enhancements

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Aharonov is the go-to guy when it comes to a more permanent look. He specialises in dimple creation surgery. What the procedure does is replicate naturally occurring dimples by making a small incision inside the cheek.
