Cape Town - In celebration of World Kindness Day on Monday (Nov 13), The SA National Zakah Fund (Sanzaf) organised a day of fun and joy for 300 children in Langa at the weekend.

Sanzaf spokesperson Sakeena Bock said the day was about “getting different communities together and sharing an act of kindness with the children”.

There were jumping castles, potato sack races, tug-of-war and more, as Bock said they wanted an environment free of “online or telephonic intervention”.

“We laughed, we played, enjoyed a lovely lunch and the kids also received special gifts at the end of the day,” said Bock.

She added: “Kindness is something we are born with and spreading kindness does not have to be big gestures, it can start with something as simple as a smile.

“Just show the community around you that you care by sharing good deeds with one another.

“Identify a person who does not have access to the same opportunities you have and offer them kindness.”

On Monday, Sanzaf will be launching a new campaign to provide hygiene care packs to children in need at Tygerberg Hospital.
