Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday. Durban’s first Santa Run takes place at Kings Park Stadium on November 25 and it’s literally 4km to Christmas.

“The event signalling the start of the summer and silly season is the perfect way in which to celebrate the end of exams and the beginning of the holidays,” Independent Media’s national events manager Bronwyn Fynn said.

“We’ve planned a 4km fun walk with all the traditional values of Christmas. There are presents from the Kid Zone for every child who signs up and on the day there will be plenty of Santas on the field.

“The stadium event is great for families, who will get to go behind the scenes at the Shark Tank and run out onto the field to the music, just like their sporting heroes do.”

Sharkie will of course be there, but he will be joined by the ever-popular Shopkins and Fireman Sam. There may even be a real shark at the finish line to pull a trendy, glitter crackertoa with.

“We’ll keep you hydrated and entertained,” Fynn said, detailing the line-up.

“The water table has scrumptious cookies from The Bread Mill and kids will love going through the inflatable twin towers which are on the run route. For the serious contenders there will be best dressed prizes.

“This is definitely the calendar highlight of the weekend in our city and a fun way in which to kick off the festive season.

“Get to Kings Park by 7am to register and spend the day on the the outer fields with live music and guest appearances.”

There will be loads of activities and entertainment at the Santa Run on Saturday. You can enter on the day or online.
