Selma Blair has revealed her body is still depleted after years of breastfeeding her son.
The 45-year-old actress is mother to six-year-old son Arthur - whose father is fashion designer Jason Bleick - and nursed the youngster for years to help with his medical issues, at the expense of her own health as she thinks it led to her becoming malnourished.
Selma told The Observer newspaper: "My son had some health issues and he really needed the breast milk, so that really was my job. I thought: 'Aaaah, I guess I can die now, I got him through that!' But I depleted myself, too, and I'm still recovering. I still have to remind myself that my own body needs healthier fats than fried food."
There is not one second I take for granted. I have never felt at home on this earth. I wished for sleep. For a connection somewhere. And then this baby came. And even though I had trouble adjusting, I was present for almost every single second. I worked hard to feel the pain and let it pass. Life. And now I am here. Grateful. Proud of us. It could all be taken away in a blindside one Tuesday afternoon. My fear. So I take in every moment. I breathe this in. I thank my angels. My friends. This child who helped change me. My heart breaks with love and I know I am so lucky. Thank you universe. For this morning with my son resting on my shoulder. Bless us all.
