Café Chic is a gem of a surprise. Located in what looks like it was once a house, this drinking lounge serves this kick of a cocktail.
Bartender Victoria Brandon-Kirby makes the drink by mixing a single espresso, a shot of vodka and vanilla syrup in a shaker and then shaking it with ice. This is strained and poured into a martini glass.
There are clear vanilla tastes in the drink. The wide brim of a martini glass gives an expanding effect to the experience of sipping on this foam topped cocktail with its floating coffee beans garnish. Further tasting proved the drink has a definite coffee kick - quite the wake up to a drinking session. The cocktail is also very sweet. Brandon-Kirby says the PS I Love You is popular with coffee-lovers.
Café Chic is an eclectic mix - a restaurant, a lounge and boutique. A must-visit is its Moroccan tent, a hidden gem within a gem. A secluded area at the back, past the cocktail bar, is draped in hanging orange, purple and red fabric. Lounge music plays amid dim lighting. Café Chic also has a clothing boutique.
Located in a quiet end of Gardens, it is a nice after-work drinking spot.
Smoking is at the cocktail bar and outside.
Café Chic is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 3pm to 2am.
