Just a few minutes drive from the Cape Town City Centre is the Helderberg region and it's bursting with wine farms, restaurants and eateries that will banish all your winter blues.

A great way to start your journey of the region is The Taste the Helderberg event which showcases the pride of the regions vineyards, cafes and restaurants.

This year it's taking place for the first time on a Friday (8 June) at  the NH The Lord Charles Hotel.

The Helderberg Mountain towers above the town of Somerset West as part of the Hottentots Holland range. On its shoulders, exposed to the cool breezes of False Bay, vineyards and other farm plantings have thrived for centuries.

Its wine farms alone are a reflection of this timeline: from the historic to ultra-modern – all great.
