Indulge your senses with unique African culinary experiences at the Pietermaritzburg Food Festival this weekend.
The Pietermaritzburg Food Festival is the first of its kind in the city and promises to be a fun filled event for the whole family.
The festival is organised by Chilla Nathi Concepts, a company behind the Chillla Nathi Cookout Experience in partnership with One Nation which is a mother body for Broadway Lifestyle, an upmarket shisanyama restaurant situated in Pietermaritzburg.
These companies have invested their time and efforts to ensure that the event becomes a success.
Event organiser, Sbonga Shelembe says their objective is to set a different trend and standard in the entertainment and lifestyle industry by giving their customers a unique township experience, offering best quality food, music and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
He says the festival is a lifestyle event that celebrates South African cuisine by giving people in the food and beverage industries an opportunity to showcase their businesses.
“Patrons visiting the festival can expect to be treated to a variety of dishes prepared by professional chefs and caterers. The dishes expected to be served include, gourmet food, pastries, finger food, traditional dishes, Indian cuisine, pizzas, spit braais, potjiekos, sushi, desserts, meat, vegetarian meals, smoothies, and more.”
“And if you happen to like trying new recipes, there will be a food demo kitchen, a special feature to the event allowing chefs to demonstrate their skills to the people who like trying those new recipes,” says Shelembe.
He also added that they have partnered with established beverage companies that will be setting up a special gin, cocktails, craft beer and wine bars to ensure that patrons quench their thirst.
The Pietermaritzburg Food Festival will be held on the 23rd of September at the Golden Horse, from 10:00am until 23:00pm.
