You might have looked at the calendar this week and probably thought it’s too late to get a prime-time reservation at a trendy restaurant, but Debut Restaurant at The Private Hotel School is still open for reservations. And not only will the menu be available for Valentine’s Day but also for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays when the school itself is open. 

Debut Restaurant is one of Stellenbosch’s culinary gems. It is the training restaurant at the well-known Private Hotel School, and it offers a great fare on meals in a beautiful cellar-like setting. Their menus change weekly and focus on the best seasonal ingredients sourced locally.
Chilli salt squid with aioli, mint, spring onions & radish salad
For starters people can enjoy roasted tomato gazpacho with cucumber, basil and croutons for R50, chilli salt squid with aioli, mint, spring onions and radish salad for R70 and whipped goat’s cheese with nectarines, hazelnuts, vanilla and black pepper dressing for R60. 

For the main course people can enjoy braised beef short rib with pommes puree, pickled red cabbage, and mustard jus for R100, lime and coriander glazed hake with pak choi, sweet potato, and grapefruit salsa, coconut ginger cream for R90 and butternut ravioli with pea veloute, broccoli and parmesan for R80.

And everyone knows that craving for sweets and desserts after a meal Debut Restaurant will be having the chocolate pavè with lemongrass mousse, strawberries and meringue and the baked camembert with purple figs, dukkah and fig jam for R55 each.
