One of the most dominant fighters alive, Conor McGregor has broken into the spirits game and has launched his new Proper No. Twelve Irish whisky.  

McGregor who was born in Ireland became the biggest star in the sport of mixed martial arts while claiming the Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight and lightweight titles. 

According to Fox News, McGregor teamed up with David Elder, master distiller, previously of Guinness, to produce the Proper No. 12 brand alcohol.

In a press release seen by the publication, it was reported that it became a longer and more complicated project than originally expected, so McGregor turned to the world’s oldest whisky distillery, located in Ireland, with a proven history of quality whisky making.

The Proper No. Twelve Irish whisky.

“We created close to one hundred blends and ultimately selected what we knew was the one and only proper whiskey blend. We took the time to develop an incredible whisky and I’m excited to share it with the world,” said McGregor. 

He said he had been approached to endorse whiskies over the years, but “as a true born and bred Irishman,” he wanted to “create his own whisky that would match his high standards and make his country proud,” the The name of the whiskey itself – Proper No. 12 – is a reference to those Irish roots, the press release said.

“I come from a place called Crumlin, in Dublin 12. It’s a place dear to my heart. 

It’s where I learned how to fight; it made me who I am today. It’s a place I’m still very much a part of every single day of my life. So, that’s where the name came from. It’s proper Irish whisky and twelve is my hometown,” said McGregor

The 80-proof single-malt whisky has launched in the United States and Ireland.
