Cape Town - Three Cape Town restaurants have made it to the list of top 100 fine-dining restaurants in the world.

The Test Kitchen in Woodstock came in at 45, while Le Quartier in Franschhoek is at 82 and Rust en Vrede in Durbanville at 85.

The survey was carried out anonymously by a panel of judges.

The Elite 100 restaurants can be viewed on the Elite Traveller top 100 restaurants website – www.elitetraveler.com.

Susan Huxter of Le Quartier said she was thrilled to feature on the list a second time. “We moved up a few places from last year. I think it’s great also for the staff to receive recognition. South Africa is getting the recognition it deserves.”

She added that South African food was exceptional. “We are as good as any other country.”

Top position went to Alinea restaurant in Chicago, followed by Daniel Restaurant (New York), The Fat Duck (UK), Eleven Madison Park (New York), Le Bernardin (New York), El Celler De Can Roca (Spain), Azurmendi La Pergola (Italy), The Ledbury (UK), and Osteria Francescana (Italy). – Cape Argus
