Hey Durbanites, one of the best artisanal dairy-free ice-cream has officially been made available in town to help cover those sweet tooth cravings.

Yococo which was launched in 2016 by 24-year-old, Sinenhlanhla Ndlela who is from the Drakensberg’s Bergville area in Kwa Zulu-Natal has been shaking things up in Johannesburg and has now launched in Durban.

Ndlela started the company because she loves ice cream and realized that there aren't any vegan ice cream places that she likes. As a fun dairy-free ice cream making brand, Yococo uses as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.

Ndlela says when she started the brand she wanted to have a space where people could come and experience Yococo and all it stood for: “I am originally from KZN so it has always been on the books to get Yococo here, I just didn’t think it would happen so quickly. The shop that I supply approached me and we connected and that’s how the Durban expansion came about.

I have achieved to get Yococo to people and also get the brand out there. I still want to reach more places in South Africa and in the future I want to take the brand international”, says Ndlela.

Yococo has a range of flavours. Picture supplied.

Yococo uses a natural sweetener and fruits and vegetables in their flavours nothing artificial and has flavours like lemon dreams, tea variants and spice based flavours.

“The flavour demand changes so often and that’s the fun thing about Yococo. People love different offerings all the time, sometimes it’s the lemon dreams and sometimes it’s golden milk”, she says.

So, if you want to have yourself a Yococo moment, you can purchase it at the Healthy Store in Umhlanga Centre and soon it will also be available at Hillcrest Spar.
