It's International Coffee Day on Sunday, and what better way to mark the day than making these coffee-centric recipes?

From September 29 until October 1, International Coffee Day is a global celebration of coffee's journey from the farm to coffee shop.

It's also an opportunity for those who love coffee to honour the men and women who grow and harvest coffee. While it's coffee day every day for most coffee lovers, let this recipe make you appreciate your coffee even more.

Coffee Daiquiri

(Serves 1)

Ice cubes

45ml Jamaican Rum

22ml fresh lime juice

22ml coffee-flavoured liqueur

15ml brown sugar syrup

Lime wheel, for garnish

For The Brown Sugar Syrup

To make brown sugar syrup, combine 1 cup packed light brown sugar and half cup water in a small saucepan

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Reduce the heat to medium-low; cook for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.

Cool thoroughly before serving or storing in an airtight container (for up to several months).

For the Daiquiri

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.

Add the rum, lime juice, liqueur and brown sugar syrup; seal and shake until well chilled.

Strain into a cocktail (martini) glass.

Garnish with the lime wheel.
