Pea and Ham Soup by Georgie Pownall

Sure, it does take more than six hours to make, but you can make it in the morning and finish it off in the evening.

Pea and ham perfection. I can’t get enough of this little baby in winter - load up the soaked yellow split peas in water with quartered onions, whole garlic, bay leaves, thyme and about 3 preserved lemons. Add TWO smoked ham hocks and let it gently simmer for at least 6-8 hrs. Peas should have turned to liquid. Every couple of hours add loads and loads of cracked pepper, and a little salt to taste. Sieve, take out bones & break up ham. Toss in some green peas, fresh thyme and some sour cream to serve. Then add even more pepper. #georgiesfood #georgiesfood_
