Braai up a storm on National Braai Day with this meaty recipe from Angela Day.
National Braai Day falls on a Saturday this year so what better way to spend your day than inviting friends or family round to share a great meat feast.
The large Texas steaks you buy are quite thin and only need a quick cooking over really hot coals.
Remember it's always a good idea to rest your meat covered with a bit of foil before slicing it. This way the meat absorbs all the juices and will result in your meat staying nice and juicy.
NEED:
1 large Texas steak about 1.5kg
MARINADE
Ingredients:
- 15ml oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 10ml chopped garlic
- 1 red chilli, seeded and chopped
- 250ml cola

- 15ml lemon juice
- 5ml Dijon mustard
- 10ml honey
- 10ml dried mixed herbs
1. Place the meat in a large container
2. Pour over the cooled marinade and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight
3. Prepare the braai with hot coals.
4. Remove the meat from the marinade and cook for about 5 minutes each side or until cooked to your desired doneness
