There is much to love and celebrate when it comes to gin.
Since craft gin burst onto the scene, its popularity has certainly grown.
It's World Gin Day and this burger is the perfect party meal to have with your favourite gin cocktail.
Angostura Burger
Ingredients
900 grams ground beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons chopped celery
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3 teaspoons Angostura aromatic bitters
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Method
Place ground beef in a large bowl.
In a smaller bowl mix together breadcrumbs, celery, onion, green pepper, thyme, salt and pepper.
Sprinkle over meat in two batches, cutting into meat with the side of a large spoon.
In a small bowl whisk together milk, egg, lemon juice and 2 teaspoons Angostura aromatic bitters.
Gradually fold into meat mixture. Grill hamburgers until cooked as desired, roughly 4 - 5 minutes per side on medium-high heat.
For the burger sauce, stir together 1/2 cup tomato sauce and 1 teaspoon Angostura aromatic bitters.
