I love cooking pasta when I want a quick and easy meal after a long day from work but what I have found not so easy is reheating it the next day.

It is so hard to keep it firm and to prevent it from sticking. I have once even tried cooking the pasta again, for a short time but it became soggy.

I am sure I am not the only one experiencing such a problem.

According to Chef Emily Hansen, here’s the right way to reheat cooked pasta.

How to reheat pasta in the microwave

  • Place the cooked pasta with sauce in a microwave safe bowl that is either fitted with a lid or can be covered with plastic.

  • Place a leaf of romaine lettuce over the top of the pasta and cover.

  • Cook for medium or high heat for about three minutes (if you’re wondering how long to reheat pasta in the microwave, plan for around four to five minutes).

  • Remove lettuce (which has moisture and will keep the pasta from drying out).

  • Stir and cook another one to two minutes until hot.

How to reheat pasta in the oven

  • Preheat the oven to 177 degrees Celsius.

  • Place the pasta in an oven safe dish that you can cover with a lid or foil.

  • Add one to two tablespoons of chicken stock or water.

  • Add more cheese to create a pasta bake with your leftovers.

  • Put the pasta in the oven and bake.

  • After ten minutes, stir the noodles, re-cover, and heat for another five minutes. At this point, the added liquid should create steam and thoroughly heat the noodles.
