The Joint is a relatively new establishment at Durban’s Main Beach, a prime location. It’s a nice hang out spot for before and after work sessions and chilled weekends.

The first time I was there it was early in the day so I grabbed their breakfast menu and had the Vuka Breakfast – two eggs, toast, wors, bacon, chips and chakalaka – was amazing, a perfect kickstart to the day for only R45.

This time around, a weekday lunchtime, I indulged in their shisanyama, ordering the Triple Braai Platter.

The platter consisted of two lamb chops, six chicken wings, two barbecue pork ribs, chakalaka relish with a side of pap. There are more options for sides though. I enjoyed their meal. Everything was done well – their wings were succulent and the ribs had great flavour.

Their chakalaka is amazing. There was a sweetness which probably comes from the paprika. They could bottle that and sell, it's that good.

The meal is perfect for three people sharing, and for R250, that’s pretty reasonable.
