Four local chefs have been rated among the best in the world at this year’s 300 Best Chef awards.
Leading the pack at number 79, is Chantel Dartnall from Restaurant Mosaic in Pretoria.
In 2017 Dartnell was voted the best female chef in the world.
She is followed by Peter Tempelhof (134), executive chef at Greenhouse Restaurant in Cape Town, Gregory Czarnecki (223), executive chef at The Restaurant at Waterkloof in Somerset West and Michael Deg ( 272), executive chef at Cavalli Restaurant in Somerset West.
Spanish chef, Joan Roca claimed the number spot.
The Best Chef is a new concept of presenting the "Haute Cuisine" world through their marketing platform. A strategy focuses its strength through social networking and other digital platforms.
The Best Chef awards are positioning and imposing themselves into the digital world as one of the first groups dedicated to serving only the greatest of chefs globally.

To create their top 300 list they select over 350 chefs globally. Selection takes place through research and reporting that they receive from various industry professionals.
