The backlash was almost immediate. It was clear that viewers, who were live tweeting Thursday's episode of Come Dine With Me South Africa, were not fans of Durban socialite and businessperson, Sanesh Bhengu.

The champagne loving socialite was showing off her cooking and hosting skills on the show, where she competed against fellow Durbanites, Rourke Mc Arthur, Stephen Wilken and Georgia Bowers. But it was her that the viewers were recoiling to.

"Me Diva? Nooo...." less than 5 mins in and i know this chick is bout to bs her way through this show. #ComeDineWithMeSA

Ouch!

Her antics on the show left much to be desired- from her love of hot sauce on everything, to touching other people's food, which promptly got her dragged on Twitter

Yho Sunesh (sp) is the archtype for new money. Thinking dining at Tashas/ or any trendy restaurant and hashtaging foodie on your orchestrated ig pics means you've got a well rounded palette #ComeDineWithMeSA pic.twitter.com/EdpLDHV1sm

Rule 3 - don't touch people's food #ComeDineSA #ComeDineWithMeSA

This lady is just too much, how do you touch someone else's food! It's so sad that money can't buy class and manners. #ComeDineWithMeSA

But she also saw the funny side of her antics on the show, going on Instagram and calling herself an idiot.

Was it a good representation of the foodies of Durban? No. But was it entertaining? Yes!
